박선재 SUN JAE, PARK

Sun-Jae Park is an artist born in South Korea who moved to the United States when he was teenager. He has always believed that he was born to create. He has explored various forms of art, with a particular focus on Visual Arts, Films, and music. Currently, he is studying painting at the Cranbrook Academy of Art.

He firmly believes in the power of "Amateurism," where the act of creating should be pure, joyful, and without limitations, much like how children freely express themselves through art. His aspiration is to remain an amateur artist forever.

The influence of Korean painting is deeply intertwined with his work, characterized by lyricism and simplicity. The pursuit of simplicity is a fundamental aspect of his artistic practice.

In terms of materials, he prefers to use readily available items such as acrylic paints, pens, paper, soil, and wood for their accessibility.

By using familiar materials, he aims to make his artwork approachable to a wider audience. His paintings feature simple lines, shapes, and a limited color palette, deliberately leaving ample empty space. The philosophy of emptiness holds great significance for him. Emptiness is not merely nothing; it represents an infinite world in itself
